About Tato

I was born in Colombia, South America, and immigrated to the United States at the age of 19. After marrying the love of my life, we moved to Twin Falls, where I have lived for the past 30 years. During this time, we raised two wonderful sons in Twin Falls. Both attended Idaho universities, have since graduated, and are now married. Twin Falls is truly home for my wife, my children, and me. This community has given us so much, and I have always felt a strong sense of responsibility to give back by serving the city. Over the years, I have participated in numerous committees at both the city and community levels, and I plan to continue doing so. As a proud foreign-born Idahoan, I believe that the values and beliefs shared by the people of my hometown are what make it such a wonderful place to live. Sharing ideas and opening all channels of communication with respect to the dignity of every individual and protecting our natural resources is how we can continue growing without losing our identity.

Protecting Our Environment

Preserving the natural beauty and resources of Twin Falls is a priority. I support initiatives that protect our rivers, parks, and open spaces while encouraging sustainable practices in our community.

Community Engagement

On the 30 years I have lived in Twin Falls, I have participated in many organizations and boards. I have been an Assistant Scout Master for troop 63, I am a volunteer for Sleep in Heavenly Peace, Board member for Twin Falls Community Foundation, Board Member for the St. Lukes' Magic Valley Foundation and l am a lead organizer and volunteer for the Canyon Rim Trail Park Run.

Experience

With 12 years of experience serving as both a Commissioner and chairman for the Twin Falls Planning and Zoning Commission, as well as acting as an active advisor for the last two Twin Falls City Comprehensive Plans, I have played a key role in shaping our city’s growth. My involvement as a member of the Twin Falls Impact Fee Committee and as a Twin Falls Chamber Ambassador has further contributed to our community’s development. I am confident that we can sustain this positive momentum, provided we remain responsible stewards of our natural resources.
